Christmas Time Is Near

Tis the season to be jolly, so why in the world am I in this little funk? This is suppose to be the happiest time of the year, but for some reason we find ourselves overwhelmed with the stress of finding that perfect gift or trying to manage time for all the Holiday Festivities. I feel like all this mumbo jumbo that comes along with the holidays draws me away from the true meaning of Christmas and really drains us. Maybe that's just me though. This time of the year isn't about me, you, or anyone else. But really about the birth of Jesus, the eternal, all-powerful and all-knowing Creator who came to earth in the flesh. With that being said onto the next part.

I know sometimes we take little things in life for granted and I'm speaking for myself when i say that too. We're not as humble as we should be, and we forget that every day we wake up is a gift from the big man above. I encourage you to cherish every moment you have with you're family, not just on the holidays but everyday. I'm going to make this short and to the point, I realize that we all go through the trials and tribulations of this game called "Life." Some of us are struggling more than others but no matter the blessing BIG or Small just be thankful because you could wake up tomorrow with nothing. All I'm really trying to say is forget about the presents, cookies, and holiday deals. Look at the big picture.

This is a whole lot of randomness mixed up in one blog. I'm using it to get stuff off my chest that i wish I could tell everyone but I can't on twitter and facebook due to character limitations #SMH. Don't rush into growing up people, tomorrow isn't promised and the past really don't matter. Live for the moment, live for those times with your family and friends that you laugh so hard you cry. Live for the person who is going to change your entire life when you meet them. Live to wake up every morning and make a difference in someone elses life. Live to love God. Don't be a fan of Jesus, be a Follower. Live for the little things that make you happy, be the best you can at anything and everything you do. Wake up roll out of bed and make everyone ask, why you always so happy? A smile is contagious, so be that person who spreads it. Don't get down on yourself when you make a mistake because we all make mistakes, just move on and keep truckin. Make a bad day look like a good one and be the positive influence you wish to see in others.

That's about all I got for you all today I hope you enjoyed it. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Be safe traveling, Eat till you can't eat any more, and feel free to bring me any left overs that you all don't want.

Long time no talk

Hey guys how's it going?

Well in my world everything is going picture perfect. I recently went on a family trip to Tenn. and got to mark zip lining off of my bucket list. It was an amazing time and i can't begin to explain how great of an experience it was, i advise everyone to at least give it a try someday.

I also got re baptized on 10/24/10. The greatest day of my entire life. I honestly don't even have the right words to express the feelings i have felt since it happened. I hope and pray that God uses me as a tool to reach out and help people. I really want to be the best me i am capable of being and i know the only way that is possible is through him.

I haven't really gotten to blog in a long time because i have been so overwhelmed with school and work. I have never been so busy so this blog is really just me rambling on and on about random stuff. As most of you all know I suffer from a "Twitter" addiction and recently made a bet with a friend that i could go a whole week with out tweeting. Well for some of you, you probably think that's no big deal! Well for me it is, LOL when you put out 30+ tweets a day and then you all of a sudden just quit, you really start missing it. Well as of right now im two days away from my goal haha, Wednesday night at 8:00 P.m. I will be back on my tweet game and i can't wait.

On another note NBA is about to start and i can't freaking wait. I'm seriously so pumped to see how the Miami Heat play together. If you get a chance check out Lebrons new commercial. Its crazy, how Lebron turned all the negative feedback with his decision to sign with the Heat to his theme for his new commercial. Lebron is a great ball player who receives alot of hatred because of that. People try and compare him to the Greatest of all time MICHAEL JORDAN, which in my own personal opinion there will never be another MJ. BUT lebron is awesome and he made a move to set him up with two other top notch basketball players. His new commercial pretty much calls out everything that people have said about him from being called a villain, to ruining his legacy, even a personal shout out to Charles Barkley.

Moving up in the game

From kicking dumb rhymes just to pass the time, too rapping at parties for all his closest friends. West Metcalfe has been in the game for quite sometime now. I've known this guy for years, and ever since i could remember me and him have made up funny, dumb, thug, white, and even some love raps for the ladie friends. We've rapped about everything ranging from Tea Cups, Pumas, and Dominoes too Basketball, chicks, and guns that neither of us own. We've had some good times, and it wasn't till recently that he really has gotten into his music. West finally took the initiative with a little push from our friend Nathan Blum, to go the extra step and invest into legit recording equipment. This kids talent with words is unreal, he really has a talent that some artists work there entire life to reach but don't. I'm writing this to try and get the word out, he isn't just another artist out there goofing off and wasting time. This kids got it, and people need to hear it. I want everyone to check out his website, All you gotta do is click it, I promise you won't be sorry! From our YouTube videos to now he has escalated to new heights, so let me know what y'all think... His latest mix tape Stuck in Limbo was hosted by Mix tape DJ, DJ Cap Com, where West shows off his new quality sound with the phantom mic they bought.

I also want to talk about Eric "Money E" Samples, the producer of most beats used by West. I really don't have to say much other than, T.I. come holla at us if you need a beat. LOL this guy has been into music for as long as i can remember, he actually use to work with one of my favorite underground groups "Click Tite." They no longer make music, but Eric is always working hard on his music and hopefully someday all that hard work pays off for him. Give these guys a chance and check out there websites, i realize not alot of people actually read this blog but for those of you that do, check it out.

Despite MTV's reputation for coming out with some of the worlds worse TV shows in my opinion, I believe that I've finally found one worth watching. World of Jenks is truly one of a kind, MTV is actually amazing at creating: documentary television. Andrew Jenks a 24-year-old documentary filmmaker spends a full week with a unique individual in their shoes. He's been through it all putting himself in different cultures/lifestyles. Hes lived the "Thug Life" with well known rapper Maino, who is famous for his hit single "all the above", and even spending time with a less fortunate homeless woman where he slept for a week in a sleeping bag on the concrete. Jenks has even spent a week with a special teen who had autism (My personal favorite). It really shows you the different lifestyles and gives you a whole new perspective on certain types of people. Each show made for great television, but an even greater lesson. Jenks talks about how the best way to get to know a person is to walk in there shoes. I couldn't agree more, he claims that after spending a few days with someone that is when you really get to know them. I personally love the show, i feel like we should all get to know others more then what we do. "It's how i learn, and develop as a person," is what Jenks says. I'm not going to get all deep in this blog and really break down the show and what it means to me personally. All i want is if you get a chance and see it on TV, give it a shot and watch it. You won't be disappointed.

Random

Hello World,

As most of you all know my last blog was talking about a bucket list. Well I'm pleased to say that this coming weekend I'll get to check off my first thing. (#12 Zip line) I really can't wait, I'll be leaving October7Th for a family trip to Tenn. and staying for the weekend.

I don't know if you all keep up with Eminem much, but alot of my friends know that hes one of my favorite artists. Him and Lecrae. Well Eminem just premiered his video ft. Lil Wayne "No Love." I don't know about you guys but all of Eminems videos really have cool messages in them. This is Eminems third video off Recovery, which Weezy filmed right before he went to prison. This video Eminem focuses on teen bullying.

Also lecrae just came out with his newest album "Rehab." I can't even express how great this album is. Right now Lecrae is in Sudan on a mission trip and i can't begin to tell you how much you all need to go out and purchase this album to support him.

What makes Lecraes album so good is the messages he tries put in each song. My favorite track on the album as of right now is called "Killa." It's hard for me to say its my absolute favorite though, because there are so many other tracks that I love so much. If you have the time, you should all take about 3 minutes to listen to this song. I have a feeling you would all love it.

Before I kick the bucket

Well im back on the blog scene once again, mainly for the simple reason I have an hour to kill before work. Has anyone ever made a bucket list before? As of right now I'm in the process of creating my very own, but its not your ordinary bucket list. Ofcourse it has certain items on it like, visit Hawaii, fly in an air plane, go to Times Square on New Years Eve and break a world record. See, I don't know about you all but I'm tired of putting off life dreams for "someday." I want to get started, i want to be able to do all the things i've dreamed of doing, but im also making this list realistic. Nothing crazy like become a billionaire because lets face it, thats never going to happen for me. Alot of items on my list are things i would like to do for others, for example help someone face his/her biggest fear, buy a homeless person food, and even pay for another persons meal at a restaurant. See I don't know about you all but i seem to get more things done when i have a structured schedule. So this is my way of making that happen.

Honestly it's been a pretty cool experience to say the least, you don't really realize how many things you would have liked to have accomplished until you take the initiative to make your own. I'm only on number 57 and its unreal how many things in life i want to do for others and for myself. I hope you all sit down after reading this and make one of your own. My friend dylan and I even came up with a pretty cool idea. When we finish making our list and start trying to mark things off, each time i finish something im going to take a picture and post it to my blog. Hopefully you guys get an idea and find it interesting to see what we are doing. How awesome would it be to be able to look back on your lifes journey and say "Wow, ain't that something? I did it all!" The sense of accomplishment is probably unreal.

Thats all for now though, i hope you guys enjoyed yet another post from my ol' blog. By the way if you decide to make a bucket list, let me know and leave some feed back. I'd love to see some of the things and adventures you have on your list. Heck you should even blog about it too. I want to end it with one of my favorite quotes of all time by the one and only John Wooden. Read it, Write it down, Read it again, and love it. haha

"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."

Back on the scene

What up world???

Well as most of you know the 2010 FIBA world championships just ended and our very own team USA led by Kevin Durrant brought home the gold. This was huge for USA sports, considering the last time that we won gold in the FIBA championships was 16 years ago. With that being said I want to talk about the unbelievable and outstanding show that Kevin Durant put on In which he scored 33, 38 and 28 points against Russia, Lithuania and Turkey. This to me proved a statement that he is on the hunt to make a name for him self. No longer can we leave him out of the argument when talking about TOP players in the NBA. In my opinion he has earned his place to be thrown around with names such as Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and Dwayne wade... I was proud of team USA, they had Alot of people who didn't believe they could do it with no "real" superstar on the roster. They had alot of doubters, i guess they shut them up didn't they?

Motivated

Hello World,

Or shall i say Hello 7 or 8 people that actually read this?? LOL. I hope all is well with each and every one of you today. This episode of my life does not really have any certain purpose. I am pretty much writing to pass time and boredom... Today has been a pretty good day. I woke up early and went to church, and even stopped by the amazing Raising Canes with some really good friends. To be honest with you I have no idea why it is that im so motivated right now.

For the past hour or so all i can think about is succeeding. I want so bad to finish college out and make my parents proud. I want it for myself, and i want it for them. I want to be someone some day. I sit around with my friends and we ask questions like,

"Do you think you will still be in Richmond after you graduate?"
"Do you know what you even want to do?"

and to be honest with you i have an idea of what i want to do. But Just like all the other ideas since the age of five and me wanting to be an orthodontist, its just an idea they come and go and even change. When i have these talks with friends, i have all these dreams, goals, and expectations that i want to accomplish. Some ofcourse seem out of this world and unrealistic, but in all actuality i know that if i set my mind to it i can get it done. Im not the type to give up. When i have my mind set i will do what ever i have to do to get it done, NO MATTER THE OBSTACLE. To answer the questions above, Yes i do plan on still being in RIchmond after i graduate. Mainly because after all the time i spend complaining about this place, the 859 hasn't really been that bad to me. Blogs and thoughts like this are caused by me having those infamous "Heart To Hearts" with all my best friends. If you all are anything like me and my friends, then just about every time you sit down together, you're having one.

I do not know what it is that sparked my interest in talking about this today. Maybe it was Rev Runs Twitter account?? (@RevRunWisdom) i look at his twitter on a daily basis. Its always nice to have a good motivational quote. So with that being said "America is all about speed. Hot, nasty, bada** speed."
– Eleanor Roosevelt, 1936

LOL i kind of went a complete different direction on that one. Sorry didn't mean to throw you all for a loop. I hope you all enjoyed this entry, and i appreciate you taking time out of your day to read these. More to come and they will not all be so serious. I promise.

Why do we care?

Hello World,

On this episode of True Life: The Ballad of Adam Smith i have just a few things weiging on my mind. Why do we care so much about what other people think? It was just this morning when it really got to me! I woke up with a mention on Twitter from Adam Young (Twitter Name ATY10) telling me that he also decided to make himself a blogspot account. Ofcourse i was excited to read right away and in the mention he posted his url. So me being as anxious and impatient as i am i quickly got on my computer to read his first blog.

In his blog Adam says,

"I always wanted to do a blog, but like him I wouldn't know if anyone would read it. But Nathan Blum ( Twitter name @Real_NathanBlum ) told him that it didn't matter if anyone reads it, you do what you wanna do. So thats why I started this blog of mine."

When i read that in his blog all i could do is SMH. Reading that takes me right back to where i was when deciding to make mine. I was so worried that people would not actually read it. Or if they did read it they would constantly criticize me for all of my spelling errors. LOL now i know what your thinking.. Wow is this guy THAT dumb and spell that much stuff wrong?? No its not that at all, for some reason in the back of my head all i could think is how many people out there would just "hate" on this.

All i could think is how many people in the back of there mind when reading this would say, "Does he think hes all that?" "Does he think that people honestly care what he has to say?" But after reading what blum told me on twitter. I said to myself "I really Don't care what they think." So here i am, my second blog coming to an end and i honestly couldn't be happier. I can not even begin to tell you all how much you should not worry about what other people think. Take my advice and if you want to blog, Then BLOG, If you wanna Rap, THEN RAP, if you want to be a grown man and watch hannah montanna (i prolly wouldn't tell any of your friends) but you go RIGHT ahead and you watch Hannah Montanna. If thats what makes you happy then by all means you do it.
